History

The Health Care Leaders Association of BC has a long heritage and can trace its roots back to the Hospital Administrators Association which began over 60 years ago. The present organization of HCLABC began over ten years ago as an amalgamation of three predecessor organizations and incorporated as an association on June 29, 1999.

HCLABC includes over 450 members who work within diverse areas of the healthcare profession including, health authorities, government, academic and research communities, non-government, non-profits and special interest groups and consultants who provide services within the industry.

In 2005, HCLABC entered into a strategic alliance with the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL). When a British Columbia health care executive becomes a member of the Health Care Leaders Association they automatically enjoy the benefits of membership within the College.
